Whittlesea Council has endorsed the South Morang Activity Centre Eastern Precinct Development Plan to promote business and medium density residential housing.

The area covered by the plan is next to the Plenty Valley Shopping Centre.

The council is looking at a planning application to develop nine parcels of land within the precinct.

The area is bounded by McDonalds Rd, Plenty Rd, the recently completed Bush Boulevard, and the conservation reserve that separates the land from the Plenty Valley Shopping Centre to the north-west.

The conservation reserve within the precinct is on either side of the Melbourne Water pipe track on the corner of McDonalds Rd and Bush Boulevard.

It was set aside and protected to offset the loss of vegetation associated with the associated with the development of the Plenty Valley Shopping Centre.
