Mason Point reveals it’s newly zoned, $150 million project – a mixed-use development encompassing apartments, townhomes, commercial and retail spaces.
In a joint venture between Gibson Property Corporation (GPC) and Roche Property Group (RPG), Mason Point is set to become the next movement in high-density apartments, townhomes, office suites and retail spaces in Melbourne’s Northern suburbs; located 25 kilometers from the Melbourne CBD in the City of Whittlesea.
Mason Point is strategically positioned on the corners of Plenty Road, McDonalds Road, and the newly opened Bush Boulevard. The recent rezoning to Business 2 now allows for high density residential and specialty retail uses within the South Morang Activity Centre.
Mason Point resides on the doorstep of Westfield Shopping Centre; and offers many of the day-to-day amenities required by residents and the workforce. It also surrounded by facilities including a library, childcare centres, RMIT University, schools, markets, sporting ovals and transport.
Charles Gibson, Director of GPC commented, “The City of Whittlesea Council have carefully planned this growth corridor, and have been instrumental in leading the rezoning process within the South Morang Activity Centre.
“The State Government has earmarked a number of centres as a key platform for the ‘Melbourne 2030′ and ‘Melbourne @ 5 million’, strategies, including the South Morang Activity Centre. The centre will provide those living or working in Mason Point with many benefits of living close to work, including less congested roads, greater access to public transport, and greater access to Westfield Shopping Centre.
“The land was purchased from Westfield with the vision to create a new residential “life” precinct on Westfield’s doorstep. There is a lot to be excited about, with Bush Boulevard open and our Stage One residential development being released,” says Mr Gibson.
A Westfield spokesman said: “We decided to sell a portion of our surplus land holdings to GPC and RPG who are experienced developers with a successful track record of delivering higher density residential and employment generating developments. GPC and RPG were a logical fit for the master planned development surrounding Westfield Plenty Valley.”
The future expansion plans for the Town Centre are significant and will grow in line with consumer demand within the catchment. The opening of the South Morang Rail and Bus Interchange, Masters Hardware store and a medical Super Clinic this year will further transform this important Town Centre.
The initial stage of Mason Point will deliver 32 apartments, 29 townhomes and retail spaces.
