The doors of Merrifield’s first café have now opened.
The Corner Store -a purpose built pop-up café – will service Merrifield residents and the wider community with great food and barista-made coffee.
Merrifield Project Director, Matthew Planner, said opening of The Corner Store at Merrifield is exciting.
“Delivering the everyday conveniences that our residents deserve and expect is critical.
“Melbourne has such a strong café culture, so it has always been a priority to open a café at Merrifield as quickly as possible,” said Mr Planner. “The Corner Store is the ideal spot for the community to gather and enjoy that all-important coffee.”
Mr Planner added that the early delivery of local retail amenity is of great importance at Merrifield. “In fact, this really stands Merrifield apart from other developments,” said Mr Planner.
Experienced café operators and Merrifield residents, Gary and Sabrina Camilleri, are delighted to open The Corner Store.
“We have working in the hospitality industry for many years, so to open a café so close to home is a thrill,” said Mr Camilleri.
The Corner Store offers café favourites including freshly grilled burgers.
“As a chef, l have taken pride in developing the menu,” said Mr Camilleri. “We also offer everyday essentials to take home, such as milk, bread, eggs and even our own roasted coffee beans.”
Alongside the café Merrifield has big plans for 2017, delivering stage one of ‘M Square’ – a local convenience hub carefully planned with the needs of local residents in mind – including a Kool Kidz childcare centre, as well as BP service station, convenience store, café, newsagency and ATM.
“And that is just the beginning,” said Mr Planner. “Merrifield offers a number of education and lifestyle services, with schools, sports facilities, gym, medical centre and a pharmacy all planned to be on the way.”
The Corner Store is open seven days a week and is located at the end of Newmarket Promenade, opposite the park and near the Merrifield Display Village.
