Gibson Property Corporation (GPC) today announced it has signed a lease with Aegis Services Australia Pty Ltd (Aegis) for a new premises in the City of Whittlesea. The property will have capacity to accommodate a new contact centre with over 400 seats and employ up to 600 people. The announcement comes hot on the heels of the recent opening of a new Aegis centre in Werribee.

The new site based at GPC’s South Morang Activity Centre will deliver a range services for some of Australia’s best known blue chip brands. Denice Pitt, President of Aegis in Australia, explained the decision making process for selecting the site had been made specifically to benefit both staff and clients.

“Our growing company relies on the quality and loyalty of our amazing people. By helping to bring their work closer to where they live, our staff realise many benefits for their work-life balance. This has a significant positive impact on the performance of our business, since our clients benefit from higher levels of staff engagement and longer tenure.”

Ms. Pitt also acknowledged the support of the City of Whittlesea. “The generous assistance we received from the Mayor and council’s office was another key factor in our decision to choose this location. We’re sincerely appreciative and look forward to continuing a close working relationship.”

The centre is being delivered close by to Westfield Plenty Valley Plaza and the new South Morang rail station due for completion in 2012. Whittlesea Mayor, Councillor Mary Lalios said that Aegis would be one of the largest employers within the area and its contact centre will provide a range of employment opportunities for residents in Whittlesea.

“The new facility will bring jobs for up to 600 people into the City of Whittlesea cementing Melbourne’s north as one of the fastest growing corridors. It will provide substantial economic benefits for local business and the wider community,” Cr Lalios said.

“This is a great opportunity for the local community to obtain a new employer in the South Morang Activity Centre (SMAC). It underpins the significance of the location. We are delighted to accommodate such a prestigious international company,” said John Gibson, GPC’s Managing Director.

The deal was brought to GPC via the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development (DIIRD) who aim to attract investments within growth areas, such as Melbourne’s North.
