YEARS in the making, the state’s largest mixed -use development has stepped off

the plans with construction beginning.

The Merrifield estate in Mickleham has been dubbed a “21st century city “.

It will feature 4000 homes, parkland, commercial hub and a business district

promising 20,000 new jobs.

Residents are expected to move in by the end of the year. MAB Corporation project

director Matthew Planner said the first phase of construction included new

intersection works at Donnybrook Rd and a landscape package, including

public art and the estate’s first neighbourhood park.

More than 20km of new servicing infrastructure will also be installed along

Donnybrook Rd including upgrades to water, power, sewer, gas and optic fibre

networks.
