Whittlesea Council’s budget for 2012/13 will see $134 million spent to deliver services and invest in infrastructure for one of the fastest growing municipalities in Australia.

The council proposes a moderate general rate rise of 5% to help deliver $100 million in services and a $34 million capital works program.

Some of the new package will include $10.3 million for roads, footpaths, bike paths and road-related projects including $3.4 million on local roads; $2.7 million to begin construction of the Renaissance Rise Community Activity Centre in Mernda and $2 million to irrigate sportsfields in Lalor West by extending the Melbourne Wholesale Market water reuse scheme.
