Premier John Brumby has recently committed more than half a billion dollars for the 3.5km Epping to South Morang rail line extension which will include the duplication of railway track between Keon Park and Epping stations.  

The extension is expected to be completed in 2013 with tenders for the project being called for later this year.

Along with the new rail extension, the new South Morang Train Station is currently under development. Located only 800 meters from GPC’s ‘The Hub’ development it will offer workers within the area more convenient and efficient transport.

Situated on the south-east corner of Civic Drive and McDonalds Road it will be a premium station – staffed from first train to last, with over 350 services a week, a 500 space park-and ride car park, taxi rank and timetables linked to the SmartBus service.

The station project is due for completion in 2012.
