Builders have been appointed to construct two new primary schools set to open in Hume in 2021.
Camberwell based firm Ireland Brown Constructions will build Greenvale North West Primary School, which will be located at corner of Blossom Drive and Greenvale Gardens Blvd.
Richmond based company Kane Constructions — who built Albert Park racetrack pit lane buildings in 1995 — will construct Merrifield West Primary School in Mickleham.
An exact location for the Merrifield school is yet to be announced but the State Government allocated funding to acquire land as part of $271 million commitment in the 2018-19 State Budget.
The two schools are among 14 on track to open in 2021.
Both schools shared in $624 million of funding in the 2019-20 State Budget.
Yuroke state Labor MP Ros Spence said the state-of-the-art schools would cater for the diverse needs of all students.
“The builder will bring to life the architecturally designed schools that will inspire learning, change and empower communities and remove barriers to achievement,” she said.
Ms Spence said six new schools would be delivered in her electorate during this term of government.
