A new commuter car park with up to 300 spaces will be built in McDonalds Rd, South Morang to ease parking pressures at the railway station.

Funding of $3 million has been allocated from the State Government to build a car park with a compacted rock base, lighting and a footpath along McDonalds Road connecting to the station.

The new car park will bring the number of car spaces at South Morang station to almost 750.

Works on the new car park will be completed in 2015.
